CHILDREN’S ROOM UPDATE

Posted on

September 3, 2024

We are getting closer all the time.

The carpet installation in the Children’s Room has been completed and it looks wonderful. This, as you likely know, was the first step that needed to be accomplished towards getting the Children’s Room reopened. Now that this step is done,  we can move forward.

In order to lay the carpet tiles, we needed to move everything out of the way. You may have seen a collection of furniture and shelving units gathered on one side of the room. Now that the carpet has been installed, we are in the process of putting the room back in order (the furniture and shelving units). By the time you read this, we may already have them in place.

With the shelves in place, our dedicated Children’s Room staff will move in to get the Children’s Room ‘patron ready’ for us to reopen. This will mean that all of the books and other resources that have been stored elsewhere will need to be re-shelved in their proper place and order.

One area of our collection that was stored ‘elsewhere’ were the materials that were temporarily housed in the Friends Corner. These materials will now be gathered to be shelved in the Children’s Room where they belong. Because we know that you rely on having books, and other resources, available to you, we  will continue to house a portion of our children’s collection (primarily our newer resources) in the Friends Corner during the re-shelving process. This way some resources will still be available.

Thank you for your continued support and patience. We are getting so close now and soon we will all be able to gather in the Children’s Room once again.
