Summer is coming and that means the Grafton Public Library is gearing up for the Summer Reading Program “Libraries Rock!” Due to the popularity of the Library’s LEGO Build programs, we are doing a special online registration for our summer series to ensure more patrons have the opportunity to participate. The registration link opens June 1st and closes June 11th. Please fill out the online form and we will do our best to match you with one of your top choices.
There will be FIVE mini LEGO builds. There will be THREE programs for each build: one for tweens, one for teens, and one for adults. Preference will be given to Grafton residents. Please sign-up for the appropriate age program on the Events Calendar under the Summer Lego Build Registration heading.
Brought to you by the Friends of the Grafton Public Library.
Looking for a fun, short-term after school program? Students in grades 3-5 are invited to join After School Science led by NHS (National Honor Society) volunteer Cali Cardenas. The 4 week program will be held on Tuesdays, May 15th 22nd, 29th and June 5th from 3:30-4:30 pm at the Grafton Library. Participants are expected to attend all 4 weeks of the program. Experiments will include growing plants, making quicksand, potato batteries, and volcanoes!
The Children’s Room is CLOSED to the public during this program.
PARENTS/CAREGIVERS: CAN YOUR CHILD BE ALONE AT THE LIBRARY?
Children are always welcome at the library. However, the library is a public building and very busy on a daily basis. For the protection and well-being of children, the Grafton Public Library has established an Unattended Child Policy.
Please note that program attendees must also comply with the Library’s Unattended Child Policy:
0-7 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times;
8-12 must be accompanied by parent/guardian remaining in the Library;
13+ may be unaccompanied provided child is able to use Library independently and follow the Library’s Code of Conduct.
Children under age 13 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian over the age of 14.
Research shows that the more verbal engagement you give your child, the more likely they are to reach their full potential.
The Starling Early-Education Wearable tells you if you’re engaging enough by counting the words that you speak.
• The Starling clips to your child’s shirt or pants
• Without recording, the Starling counts all the words your child hears
• The Starling app gives you real-time feedback on your child’s verbal engagements
• Get daily engagement tips from child development experts to keep you talking
Give Starling a try with one of our Starling Book Packs available for check-out for 3 weeks with 1 renewal for an additional 3 weeks!
