School Vacation Fun at the Library

Movie Night: The Secret Life of Pets (PG) – all ages  The Children’s Room will close temporarily at 6 pm to set up for this program. The room will re-open at 6:30 pm for showtime!

Wednesday, December 28 1-3 pm
Tinker Workshop – grades K-5  Dig through our box of craft materials. There’s no limit to what you can create. Tinker at the library or take some stuff to go, but make sure you post pictures of your inventions/creations to our facebook page!

Thursday, December 29 10 am – 1 pm
Lego Free Play – grades PreK-5

Friday, December 30  3-4 pm
Family Yoga – grades PreK-5  Registration is required. Online registration is now open. Program location: Children’s Room

Library Expansion Community Forum Monday, December 19 at 7 pm

The public is invited to attend Community Forum Three, hosted by DRA Architects, on Mon Dec 19 at 7 pm at the Grafton Memorial Municipal Center, Conference Room A.  Please bring your questions, concerns, and ideas and come share your thoughts on the project.

The Town has hired DRA Architects to develop plans for a 21,000-25,000 square foot facility, which would nearly triple our current 7,200 sq. foot space for a projected population of 22,122 residents in 2035. More details:
Facility size is dictated by:
  • shelving to meet a basic library standard of 4.8 materials per capita.
  • seating to meet a basic library standard of 4.5-7 seats per 1,000 residents.

RESCHEDULED – LEGO Death Star Ornament

This is the rescheduled event that was supposed to be held on Saturday, December 17th. If you were originally signed up for that event we have reserved your spot.

LEGO Death Star Ornament – Celebrate the release of the newest Star Wars movie by making a LEGO Death Star Ornament. All supplies will be provided. Registration is required and space is limited. Each participant should fill out a form. You may only sign up for one session of the Death Star Ornament.

This free program is for everyone grade 3 to adult.

Knit One, Give One – Providing Warmth for the Winter

30 beautifully knit items were donated to the Grafton Food Bank this December from the Library’s Knitting Group for distribution to Grafton families.  The Library Knitting Group meets the first Saturday of the month. Upcoming dates in 2017 are 1/7, 2/4, 3/4, 4/1. Journalist & Author Ted Reinstein coming to Grafton

The Grafton Public Library is pleased to announce Author Ted Reinstein will be at the South Grafton Community House, 25 Main Street, South Grafton on Tuesday, December 6 from 7-8 pm to discuss his latest book, Wicked Pissed: New England’s Most Famous Feuds.
Ted Reinstein is best known in New England as a journalist and reporter for Chronicle, Boston’s celebrated (and America’s longest-running, locally-produced) TV news-magazine.

He will have copies of his new book for sale for $20. He will also have copies of his first book, New England Notebook: One Reporter, Six States, Uncommon Stories, also available.

Congrats to Team Amberley, Our Scarecrow Contest Winner

Amberley won by a landslide – people loved the square head! Congrats, Amberly!

Thanks to all who participated and all who VOTED.

Participants may leave scarecrows up to enjoy for a few more days, but any remains will be cleared by DPW on November 4!

Halloween Fun at GPL!

Celebrate Halloween with us at one of these events! And don’t forget to vote in our Scarecrow Contest, sponsored by the Recreation Department!

Spooky Stories
Saturday, October 29th @ 9:00am  
Before the Library opens, join us for spooktacular stories, ghoulish goodies, and fun! Costumes are encouraged.

Movie: Halloween Town (rated PG)
Monday, October 31st @1:00pm
Get in the trick or treat mood with this holiday favorite! Reminder that children ages 8-12 must be accompanied by parent/guardian remaining in the Library.

Halloween Night
Monday, October 31st @5:00-8:00pm
Trick or Treating on South Street? Don’t forget to include the Library as a trick or treating stop! We’ll have a special activity after 5 pm: spin the wheel to pick your Halloween treat!

Staff are celebrating by dressing in Disney-themed costumes this year.

The Library is a Teal Pumpkin Project participant and will only provide non-food treats.

Scarecrow Contest

Stakes, twine and hay will be provided on the Common at this event only.

Vote for a favorite scarecrow online at The winner will be announced on Halloween!

October 11th -31st
Post a photo of your favorite scarecrow and share on social media, using the tag #GraftonMAScarecrow

November 1st -4th

PLEASE NOTE: If it rains, we’ll be building in the bandstand – or families and individuals can take materials home to complete. Return to post your scarecrow by 12 NOON Sunday so we can get online voting underway!
