Food for Fines November 1-December 31, 2015

Posted on

Got fines? To aid the Grafton Food Bank, the Library will offer fine forgiveness in return for donations of non-perishable items for the Grafton Food Bank. The program will run November 1 through December 31.

This year, in addition to non-perishables, we are accepting Stop & Shop receipts that show you have purchased a grocery box for the Food Bank.

Please consider donating to the Girl Scout Troop #30212 Food Drive for Thanksgiving! We will waive fines also for these donated items. Please see their note and list of items below:

Hello from Junior Girl Scout Troop #30212! We’re working on our Bronze Award, and we decided that every family deserves to have the best Thanksgiving ever! Since some families don’t have enough food, we’re helping the Grafton Food Bank collect all the food they need. Did you know that they will make 125 baskets of food for families? That’s a lot! We also hope to donate items for a table setting – a table cloth, pumpkin & leaves. These items will be purchased by our Girl Scout Troop.
The Grafton Food Bank has told us that they need 125 each of:
Bread Mixes (banana, etc.)
Pie crust in a box
Pie filling
Stuffing mix
Cranberry sauce
The Food Bank also needs 250:
Canned green beans
Canned corn
Please go to the troop’s SignUpGenius page to commit to donating one or many of these items!
Of course, we’re in a hurry! We need to get all of this food to the Grafton Food Bank by November 15th. Food can be dropped off in the boxes at Stop & Shop, the Grafton Public Library or at the Municipal Center (we will pick them up and sort them). If you would like to donate cash instead, we can use that to buy nice things for their Thanksgiving table. All donations received will go directly to the Grafton Food Bank.
We will be at Stop & Shop collecting donations on 11/1, 8, & 14, please keep an eye out for us!
Thank you for helping us to make Thanksgiving a happy holiday for everyone.

Please bring non-perishable canned or boxed goods, OR personal care items in lieu of cash for Library fines. The value of donated items should total the fine amount. Please note that we cannot accept open, damaged, expired, recalled or perishable items, and Food for Fines applies only to overdue fines, and does not extend to fees for printing, faxing, lost materials, or replacement Library cards.

For more details about Food for Fines, or to discuss other alternatives to fees and bring your library card to good standing, please contact Susan Leto at 508-839-4649 x1105 or by email at graftonlibrary.ma@gmail.com.
