Grafton Public Library

Filtering Policy

The Board of Library Trustees of the Grafton Public Library has voted not to use a filter on the Library computer stations on the grounds that it is a First Amendment issue and align their policy with the American Library Association’s stand on responsible use of the internet.  The Grafton Public Library adheres to the American Library Association’s Bill of Rights which is intended to protect the rights of library users to read and receive information as defined by the US. Constitution and courts.

The Board of Trustees does not endorse the use of filtering software in the public library because it is known to block legal material that library users may find useful for their studies, jobs, health, and other needs.

The Board of Library Trustees believes that censorship is the responsibility of the parent or guardian.
