Food for Fines is back for the summer! July 1 – August 31st!

The Grafton Public Library will be offering Food for Fines from July 1-August 31! Be a hero and bring in non-perishable goods equal to the amount of your overdue fines, and the Library will waive the fines and bring items to the Food Bank. Food for Fines cannot be applied to lost materials or other fees, only fines.

Children’s Room to CLOSE Tuesday nights for Kids’ Movie Nights Series

Join us on Tuesday evenings for some HERO movies this summer!
This free program is for children entering grades K-6 and is part of the Every Hero Has a Story summer reading program. Attendees will earn 3 tickets towards our Southwick’s Zoo family 4-pack raffle.

Children’s movies are shown in the Children’s Room, which is CLOSED for regular circulation from 6:00-9 p.m. for this event. A small selection of Children’s items will be available for browsing and check out in the Main Reading Room upstairs.
No RSVP is required.

Please pardon our appearance – Main Reading Room Repair

The Grafton Public Library is asking our patrons to please excuse our appearance as a section of the Main Reading Room undergoes repair from damage due to ice dams this past winter. While some of the study tables and shelving have been shifted, the collections of DVDs and audio books remain available for circulation. We apologize in advance for any noise disturbances or disruption to our patrons.

Art Program for Kids with Artist Lauren Scheuer

The Grafton Public Library is excited to host a drawing program for kids ages 8 and up with Artist Lauren Scheuer on Wednesday, June 10th at 3:30 p.m. Ms. Scheuer will share her sketchbooks, talk about the illustration process, and lead drawing demos while the kids draw along. Lauren Scheuer’s art career began in the fourth grade when Rosemary Bolton traded her lunch money for Lauren’s drawing of a cat. Lauren went on to study fine art at UCLA and later launched a colorful illustration career. She has illustrated over a dozen books for children. Her artwork can be found regularly in American Girl magazine; she has illustrated for Birds and Blooms, Muse and Cricket magazines. Teen Art Coalition: Spray Paint T-Shirt Art

Get ready for summer by customizing a shirt! We’ll provide the paint – you provide the shirt. Don’t want a shirt? You can bring a pillowcase, tote, or something else. White cotton works best. Join us Saturday, May 9th at 1 p.m.

This free program is for teens in grades 6-12. Sign up in the library or by emailing the teen librarian.

Free Comic Book Day!

May 2nd is Free Comic Book Day!
The Grafton Public Library joins comic book stores and libraries throughout the world to celebrate comics and comic books with Free Comic Book Day (FCBD).

The Grafton Public Library will give away FREE comic books while supplies last. There will be selections for all ages and interests. Drop in to caption a cartoon, or draw your own comic panel. Come dressed as your favorite comic book character!

Volunteer Opportunities in your Library Garden!

• Volunteers are needed June 6-Oct 3 to help weed & water! Sign up for a week, and stop in on every non-rainy day (preferably in the evening) to weed, water and harvest the garden beds. It’s a GREAT family activity!

Friends’ Spring Egg Hunt on April 4th!

Easter-Eggs

The Friends’ Spring Egg Hunt Fundraiser is on, RAIN or SHINE! Sat 4/4 on the Grafton Common. Start your hunt for the Golden Egg at 10AM or 11AM. Pick up 6 colored eggs along the way, meet the Easter Bunny, and come to the Library for Crafts and Stories until noon. Tickets $3 in advance, $5 day of event.
