Friends of the Library Annual Spring Egg Hunt

Saturday, April 8 at 10:00 am OR 11:30 am

Collect up to 6 candy-filled eggs while hunting for the elusive Golden Egg, get your picture taken with the Easter Bunny, and then join us at the Library for Spring stories & crafts. Sponsored by the Friends of the Grafton Public Library. Proceeds benefit the Grafton Public Library.

Tickets are $ 4 per child and must be purchased prior to the event. Tickets are first come, first serve.

Getting Started Homeschooling

Tuesday, March 7 7:00-8:30 pm.

Whether you are actively considering home education or are just curious about how it is done, you are invited to attend Getting Started Homeschooling.

Topics to be covered include an overview of homeschooling, getting started, methods, resources, and homeschooling support. Informational handouts will be available and there will be time for questions and discussion.

The program will be presented by Sophia Sayigh. Sophia is a founder of Advocates for Home Education in Massachusetts, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable educational organization that gathers and disseminates information about homeschooling in Massachusetts through education, advocacy, and events.

Admission is free, but preregistration is required.

Library to CLOSE for President’s Day

The Grafton Public Library will be CLOSED Monday, February 20, 2017 in observation of President’s Day. No items are due on this date. The Library will reopen at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 21, 2017.

Brickbuilders: keep the creativity going!

If you attended a Brickbuilders session this summer, you know how creative things can get!

Join us Wednesday, September 14 at 3:30 pm and design your own LEGO creation, or build a specific model! Bricks and Building Resources will be provided.

For kids in grades 3-6.

ADHD Essentials with Brendan Mahan, MEd., MS

Meet speaker, Brendan Mahan, MEd., MS, as he discusses ADHD issues. He is an ADHD/Executive Function consultant/coach, as well as a veteran educator. He helps people affected by ADHD redesign their lives in order to lessen the impact of the disorder.

A contributing author to 365+1 Ways to Succeed with ADHD and highly engaging speaker, Brendan addresses the emotional, academic and lifestyle impacts the disorder has on the lives of the people who have it, as well as those who love them. In his talks, he shares multiple intervention styles, both broad and specific. His interventions are highly accessible and useful across the areas of people’s lives with little to no modification.

ON YOUR MARK, GET SET…READ! Summer Reading 2016 at the Grafton Public Library!

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW is on our Summer Reading 2016 Full Calendar! Download for info on programs, prizes, earning tickets, Food for Fines!

The 2016 Summer Reading Program hosted by the Grafton Public Library has an EXERCISE theme this year! All ages are encouraged to participate.

Registration begins June 1. Register by picking up a Summer Reading tote bag – it’s that easy!! The tote will be filled with a calendar of events, bookmarks, current list of museum passes, and in the children’s bags an IOU for a Davis Farmland pass.

After registering, you can earn raffle tickets for amazing cool prizes! Winners will be chosen in three age groups: adult, teen and kids. Winning is as easy as 1-2-3!

  1. Earn 1 raffle ticket for each day you visit the Library
  2. Earn 2 raffle tickets for each food item you donate to the Grafton Food Bank (Max of 20 tickets/10 items per person)
  3. Earn 3 raffle tickets for each Library program you attend

Prizes: Oh boy, the PRIZES!!! Grand Prize – Winner’s Choice from one of the following prizes:

Food for Fines: Donate to the Grafton Food Bank instead of paying your overdue fines this summer! The Library will accept non-perishable, unexpired food, toiletries and school supplies from June 20 – August 31 in lieu of fines. Food for Fines may not be used to pay for lost or missing materials, printing or faxing fees, or replacement library cards.

Jerome Wheelock Birthday Party & Historic Book Sale Saturday June 18

Drop in to celebrate Jerome’s birthday! Try lawn games like croquet, bocce, and horsehoes from 9am-3pm for all ages at the Library! Bubbles, sidewalk chalk and other outdoor games will also be available. Enjoy our gardens, check out the Antiques fair on the Common, sign up for the 2016 Summer Reading Program, and visit with your friends and neighbors. Purchase historic and antiques books at our Friends of the Library book sale–proceeds benefit the Friends of the Library. Join us for cake and punch at 2:00pm.
