Noise Alert through November in the Children’s Room

Posted by switham on

The Staff Kitchen in the Grafton Public Library is undergoing some much needed renovations with great thanks to the Friends of the Library. Please note that while these renovations are taking place through mid-November, a good deal of noise from saws, drills and hammers carries into the Children’s Room. We would like to alert our youngest patrons of these loud noises so as not to alarm them during their visit. A selection of Children’s items will be available to check out from the upstairs Main Reading room and staff can bring up any specific item requests for patrons who wish to avoid the noise. Thank you for your patience while the renovations take place.

Library awarded LSTA Grant for “Full STEAM Ahead!” preschool services

Posted by switham on

Grafton Public Library was recently awarded a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant for $7,500.00 from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC). “We’re excited about the innovative local library projects being developed with the help of these grants,” said Cindy Roach, Head of Library Advisory and Development at the MBLC. They benefit local residents and communities.”

Grafton’s grant, titled Full STEAM Ahead! focuses on providing science, technology, engineering, arts, and math services for preschoolers. The intent is to provide learning experiences that engage the preschooler’s curiosity of the concepts of science and introduce how arts and science intertwine with each other. During the project, the Library will collaborate with Grafton Public Schools, Tufts Veterinary School, UniBank and other community organizations.

Libraries use LSTA grants from the MBLC in a variety of ways, including implementing literacy programs that benefit all ages, increasing library access to underserved populations, providing advanced automation services, training staff, and preserving valuable historical documents.

In addition to the direct library grant program, the MBLC uses LSTA funds to support statewide programs and services, including summer reading programs, databases, the Commonwealth eBook program, the Commonwealth Catalog (the new virtual catalog), and mass.gov/libraries which provides information and resources for residents.

LSTA is administered on the federal level by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and in the Commonwealth by the MBLC. More information about LSTA can found at www.mass.gov/mblc.

Programs Relocated to Municipal Center

Posted by acusher on

As you may have noticed there is construction going on in the library. While our walls get repaired from ice damaged that happened over the winter some of our programs are moving offsite to allow the repair work to get done.

The following programs will be held on the 2nd floor (either room E-2 or 33) of the Municipal Center (30 Providence Road):

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
