Edaville Family Amusement Park Summer Reading Incentive Program

Did you know…Edaville Family Amusement Park has a Summer Reading incentive program through August 24?!!
Bring in your completed summer reading reports, charts and/or essays & receive one FREE Admission with a full priced adult admission ticket at the gate only. Kindergarten thru 6th grade only.
Stop by the Grafton Library to pick up a reading log and when the kids have finished logging their reading, we will stamp it for you to present to Edaville.

Mr. Kim in Concert

It wouldn’t be summer without a Mr. Kim Concert on the Grafton Common! Come and listen to one of Grafton’s favorite musicians at this family-friendly concert. We recommend that you bring lawn chairs or a picnic blanket, or even a picnic dinner!

Diane Edgecomb Presents Stone Soup! And Other Heartwarming Tales

Building Community is more fun than ever when seen through the eyes of stories and songs from cultures around the world. These inclusive tales show us how sweet it is when everyone contributes right down to the tiniest Bee! Diane’s full-out entertainment has audience volunteers taking part: learning a Chinese crane dance in the legend of the Lord of the Cranes, singing in many languages and working together to make a huge pot of Stone Soup in Diane’s unusual re-telling of this classic story.

Please REGISTER each member of your party.

Green Cleaning with Leslie Reichert

Build a Better World this summer with the “Martha Stewart Of Green Cleaning”, Leslie Reichert. She is a cleaning expert that uses her sparkling personality, great sense of humor and contagious passion to encourage her fans and followers to think differently about their cleaning products. Leslie Reichert is known as a Green Cleaning Coach and she is changing the world – “one spray bottle at a time”. She is a national lecturer, a frequent home keeping expert on Martha Stewart Living Radio, Kmart’s Cleaning Expert and author of the book: The Joy Of Green Cleaning- a handbook for DIY cleaners.

Using a cooking show format, Leslie will demonstrate how to mix up your own cleaners and will give participants samples to take home and try.

She has been published in Real Simple, This Old House, Fit Magazine, Shape Magazine, Woman’s Day, Woman’s World, Better Homes and Gardens, Ladies Home Journal, USA Today, Huffington Post and many more.

“Build a Better World” by helping out – Boston Children’s Blood Mobile

Stop by the Library and hop on the Boston Children’s Hospital Bloodmobile. A short 30-minute whole blood donation can help as many as 4 children.
To donate you must be in good health and weigh at least 110 lbs. In MA, 16 year olds may donate blood but are required to have a consent form signed by a parent or legal guardian prior to donating. Print a copy of this form if you need it. If you are 17 and older, you just need to bring a form of photo ID with you.
How to Prepare to Donate Blood:
Make sure you are well hydrated at the time of your donation. Try and limit the amount of caffeinated beverages you consume prior to giving blood.
Do not donate on an empty stomach. Each a good meal at least three hours prior to giving blood.
Get a good nights rest prior to coming in to donate.
If in the past your hemoglobin has been low, you can raise it by eating iron rich food. For a list of food rich in iron click here.
Remember to bring a photo ID with you when you come to donate.

Jerome Wheelock Birthday Party!

Jerome Wheelock, born on June 20, 1834, donated money to the town of Grafton to build a public library. Celebrate his 183rd birthday with us with games and cake on the Common! Join us for a free party with field day games, raffles, face painting, snow cones, and a bounce house! Bring a picnic lunch or plan to purchase food from our vendors; birthday cake and lemonade will be provided!Come join in the fun at the free 90th anniversary celebration of the Grafton Public Library filled with family friendly activities like field day games, musical performances with Mr. Kim and Miss Jan from Apple Tree Arts, delicious refreshments and raffle prizes on June 24, 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Grafton Common.

The event is hosted by the Grafton Public Library, Friends of the Library and the Trustees at the Grafton Common to commemorate the 1927 opening of the library and the birthday of Jerome Wheelock, the Grafton resident who provided the funding for the library. The public is welcomed.

During the event, Mr. Wheelock will stroll through the Common and talk a bit about his steam valve inventions and vision for the Library. In 1902, he bequeathed $100,000 for the town to build a library. Oscar Thayer, a well-known architect designed the colonial Georgian style building that was completed in 1927. Mr. Wheelock’s only request in return for his generous donation was to have a statue of him placed on the Common. Party goers may visit this heroic statue at the far end of the Common.
